Top 10 Game-Changing Cloud Computing Trends of 2022

The cloud was initially launched on the Internet in the late 1990s. During that time, the cloud was very different from today’s developed offerings.    Only in the mid-2000s, the cloud, which we see today, was launched by e-commerce retailers like Amazon and virtual services like Google Docs.     Since then cloud computing has only deepened its roots in the virtual world and started evolving. By 2021, many experts predict that 94% of the internet’s workload processing will rely on cloud computing, with companies switching almost all their operations to the cloud.    Through the years, this progress of cloud has made it a crucial technology required in the business process. Quantum Computing the Future of AI

Introduction Quantum computing holds the potential to revolutionize AI despite still being in its early phases. Companies like Microsoft, IBM, Google, and Honeywell have already invested in technology to create many innovations and breakthroughs.    But, before we get our hands dirty, lets us first understand:     What is Quantum Computing?     Well, quantum computing is quite similar to traditional computing as it relies on bits to encode information. But what makes quantum computing unique is its version of bits, also called a qubit.   Qubit makes quantum computing revolutionary as it can have information in multiple states at the same time. This results in the effects of quantum mechanics, such as entanglement and superposition.    And, if you are wondering, yes, this is the spooky world of Schrodinger’s cat, both alive and dead.   According to Dr. Jay Gambetta, vice president of IBM Quantum, “Quantum computing is a new kind of computing, using the same physical rules that atoms follow to manipulate information.”    “At this fundamental level, quantum computers execute quantum circuits—like a computer’s logical circuits, but now using the physical phenomena of superposition, entanglement, and interference to implement mathematical calculations out of the reach of even our most advanced supercomputers.”   Quantum computers …

Clearview AI Gets Closer to US Patent for Facial Recognition

According to a report from Politico, Clearview AI might soon receive a US patent for its facial recognition technology.   Reportedly, the company was sent a “notice of allowance”, meaning after the payment of required administration fees the company will have its patent, by the US Patent and Trademark Office.  The company has built its facial recognition database by leveraging images across social media (and the internet). This has practically landed the company steeped in controversy.   The patent application has details the use of a “web crawler”, noting that “online photos associated with a person’s account may help to create additional records of facial recognition data points,” to acquire images.  However, critics have argued that the company’s facial recognition is a privacy violation. They have even said that it may have negative impact on minorities. Reportedly, the tech is less accurate when identifying people of color, leading to potential false arrests.  Last year, American Civil Liberties Union sued them for Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act violation. In November, the Australian government ordered them to clear its citizen database, while European agencies filed complaints.   Clearview AI has failed to get Big Tech on its good side. Last year, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube had all sent desist letters demanding the company to stop scraping images from their platforms, as it violates site’s policies.  Read Also : Google Might be Making its First In-house Smartwatch Due in 2022

Nvidia’s Canvas AI Painting Tool Turns Color Blobs into Realistic Imaginaries

Nvidia’s New Canvas tool, which is now available as a beta-free version, is a real-time painting tool GauGAN that can be used by anyone with an NVIDIA RTX GPU. It allows creators to create a rough landscape by painting blobs and then it fills it with convincingly photorealistic content.   Each distinct color on the tool represents a different type of feature: water, mountains, grass, ruins, and others.    The crude sketch is passed to a generative adversarial network when colors are blobbed onto the canvas. GANs essentially pass content to AI creator that tries to make a realistic image. After that, the detector AI evaluates how realistic that image is. Together, they make a fairly realistic depiction of what was suggested.   It is a prototype of GauGAN which was shown at CVPR in 2019. It is much more user-friendly, smoother around the edges, can run on any Windows computer, and produces better imagery with a decent Nvidia graphics card.   However, unlike Google’s Chimera Creator, this app is run locally and requires Nvidia video.   The tool aims to create realistic faces, animals, and landscapes. However, there is usually some kind of “tell” that can be spotted in the picture. But, it’s important to note that the Canvas …
