Harmonic Brings New Edge Cloud Innovations With Its Powerful New Edge Cloud Extension
Recently, Harmonic, a company that develops and markets video routing, server, and storage products for other companies, has announced a powerful new edge cloud extension to its CableOS access platform.
For the first time ever, these technological advances will enable cable operators to deploy compute resources. they will be able to leverage IP access networks and distributed cloud-native applications such as flexible DOCSIS MAC, 5G OpenRAN, and video CDN. The company is trying to combine its new capabilities with its cloud-native DOCSIS.
The company has recently announced fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) XGS and 10G EPON applications.
Over the years, CableOS solution has continued to raise the bar as the most powerful and transformative access platform in the broadband industry.
“Multi-access edge computing is going to play a pivotal role in the future of wireline and 5G wireless networks, revolutionizing the cable industry’s service delivery opportunities,” said Gil Katz, senior vice president, Cable Access Business Operations at Harmonic.
“We’re excited to again break new ground, offering the first cloud-native solution capable of simultaneously running flexible MAC, Open Caching streaming video delivery, and other critical applications at the deep edge of the access network. By extending our CableOS core platform closer to consumers, operators have a powerful new tool to optimize and monetize new broadband services.”
the company has developed a new edge compute module in partnership with Intel Inc. It is designed to be deployed in the same Ripple+ network edge platform, extending the CableOS cloud to the deep edge.
They have also announced that the new Ripple+ platform supports solution enabling full-spectrum of two-way gigabit services.
