Long Rumored Apple Car will Likely to Have External Displays
Apple Car, which has been long-rumored, is now expected to have LED screens all over the vehicle. The LED screen will display information to other drivers about what the self-driving system is doing currently.
On Tuesday, the US Patent and Trademark Office granted a patent, titled “Exterior Lighting and Warning System.”
Apple cars will have a system that would involve the creation of displays. These displays will be placed around the vehicle and are expected to show information to other road users, according to reports from AppleInsider.
For example, the display will show information including the speed of the car, its braking, and other messages in graphics and video form.

The displays might also show a goodbye message for drivers parking the vehicle or a welcome message on the arrival, the report added.
The car is expected to use A12 Bionic processor based “C1” chip with in-cabin AI capabilities, including eye movement tracking. This will require a chip foundry with capacity for automotive processes. Currently, Samsung or TSMC is in the top positions of Apple.
The Apple Car might already have long-rumored LiDAR technology to add a lot of depth to onboard AI functions. However, Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple analyst, claims that the launch of the Apple Car is very unlikely to happen till 2025-2027.
In a research note, Kuo said that Apple Car specifications are yet to be finalized. If the car comes with more or fewer features that will not add to the surprise. In fact, the launch date of the vehicle might even be pushed further to 2028 or later.
The three main issues with Apple Car, cited by Kuo are uncertainty about the launch timing, supplier and vehicle specs, and Apple’s competitiveness in the EV and self-driving car market.
